Introduction

The subsequent lists (no claim on completeness) provide references to printed, digital or hybrid sources of information and serve as an in-house working tool for the research and development of structural data.

Some of the information sources listed are not recorded as publications in the République des Lettres database, because certain platforms are primarily aimed at linking and communicating existing information rather than creating their own content. Therefore, they serve merely as a starting point rather than as reliable reference sources.

Due to the many different forms of publication, it is difficult to make a clear distinction between research and information sources. Thus, it is up to the editor to decide which platform to choose and how to use it as a reference.

Authority files

For the unique identification of persons, institutions and publications, the identification numbers of the Gemeinsame Normdatei (GND), the Identifiants et Référentiels pour l'ESR (IdRef) and the Virtual International Authority File (VIAF) are used. The latter virtually combines different authority files into one international authority file.

Authority files other than GND, IdRef and VIAF are only referenced if information on certain entities can exclusively be found there. They are provisionally recorded as publications, leaving the possibility of later reorganisation open.
